It's A Secret!! Shhh!!
I remember as a little girl learning about secrets. It was fun to whisper into someone's ear or have your friend whisper into yours, "I have a secret to tell you". It always felt exciting because you felt a part of something that no one else was privy to. Some secrets were good some not so good and some you struggled with because it felt like someone else should know about this. As a matter of fact, you soon realized that not all secrets should be kept because there was the potential for them to do real damage to others.
And then there were secret hideouts and hiding places for fun times such as playing hide and seek with siblings or friends. How disappointing was it when someone discovered your hiding place and you were so certain that it was a secure spot to hide in?
A secret place doesn't always have to be physical. But I think most of us would benefit from having one.
I think of my secret place as my go to, to be with God when I need to realign my thoughts, find balance and know how to adjust or readjust to the circumstances of life. When things get overwhelming, and they often do, it's a sign that we need to step back and take some time to reevaluate our life. But do you know that God also tells secrets? I am happy to be able to share that with you if it's the first time you're hearing this.
God tells us in his word that He will shew us great and mighty things which we do not know. Jeremiah 33;3 says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, show you thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
I have to admit that I wasn't paying too much attention to this scripture the first time I read it. Nor the second, or third...
But when I eventually decided to pay attention, I realized that this promise had so much packed into it that I had been missing. I missed out a whole lot just by casually reading through the word. But God began to show me "secrets" I didn't know. He is truly awesome and amazing. I'm not just speaking spiritually either.
If you want to know anything at all about anything in life He has answers. I've learned that God deals with us in very specific ways too. Think about this for a minute. When we're really considering something we want to get, we usually state the specifics of what we want. The size, color, shape, or if it's food, we would like it to be prepared a certain way to satisfy our tastes.
God will share anything with you that you need for your life to be the most fulfilling and for you to bring that experience into the lives of your friends and family. As I began to talk to Him more and more and mediate on the word more than just merely browsing through, His spirit would just fill me up with "secrets" that I know for sure I couldn't have thought up myself. I felt rich. I felt blessed. I felt seen. I felt loved.
God has a "secret" place for all of us. The word says we dwell in the secret place we will abide under His shadow, Psalms 91:1. I've often thought about what it means to dwell in his shadow. Do you know how close you need to be to someone in order to never leave their shadow? Pretty close. I would have to hold on to God in order to "abide" or stay, remain in his shadow. Well, that's the idea. For us to actually decide to cling to Him and never let go.
And that's exactly what He wants us to do. He wants us to dwell in his shadow. Stay with Him. Hold on to Him. If we want the secrets to life, love and fulfillment, He will give them to us IF we're willing to stay and abide in His shadow.
No one can find you there or harm you in this secret place. However, it's something you can share with others who want that same closeness with their maker and friend. This is one secret that we can definitely share with everyone!
Praying for you always!!!!
